This quality double-ended rasp by Stella Bianca of Italy (sold through Angelo B.) is a fantastic medium-fine cut for aggressive but controlled wood shaping tasks. Also known as a "four in hand" or shoemaker's rasp, this tool is popularly used for shaping tool handles, such as when fitting a new axe handle to an old head. The half-round cross section and double ended design gives both a medium rasp and fine file in two profiles.
Good examples of this style of rasp are hard to come by, and most premium examples are expensive enough to make them out of reach of the common hobbyist or homesteader. The quality of Stella Bianca files and rasps has proven, in our experience, to be on par with vintage American examples, and at a very reasonable price for their excellent performance. Hardened to a whopping 64 HRC!
