While dependable tools for hard use, Ontario machetes come from the factory with the scales not flush with the tang, an acceptable but unfinished edge, and a rounded and unground tip. However, these American-made classics are diamonds in the rough and will perform exceptionally well once given some additional work.
If selecting the Special Grade option we will:
~Bring the scales flush with the tang and hard corners rounded
~Finish the edge to a thin convex and brought all the way to the point
~Shape the tip to a fine point
Due to the nature of the polypropylene handle material, some scratches may be visible from the modification procedure.
The only thing wrong with this example is the cap of the third rivet is misaligned on one side. It appears to be holding securely, but is overlapping the shallow recess molded into the scale that it normally sits in.
