Named after a genus of alpine flowers also known as Gentians, the Enzian is an excellent hard-wearing medium grit stone with broad potential applications. The grit of this aluminum oxide stone, we find, is just a little higher than that of the Lansky stone, which would put it at about 360 grit. A must-have in the abrasives arsenal for any edged tool enthusiast, this is one of our most frequently used stones around the homestead for general sharpening.
This stone often comes with some excess "loose" grit on the surface that makes it initially feel more coarse than it actually is. After a few uses the excess wears off and the smoother surface is revealed.
