A powerful tool for vegetation management, the bush hook--sometimes known as a brush axe--excels at removing woody-stemmed growth too heavy for a bush scythe but too light from a proper axe. Despite its 36" axe handle, a bush hook is used with an underhanded, slicing stroke more like that of a golf club than that of an axe. At the end of the stroke, a simple turn of the wrists allows the user to cut on the return stroke as well, making quick work of anything in its path. If you need to remove bushes, shrubs, saplings, and brambles in volume, the bush hook is the tool to have!
